Read the tribute below :
This is the lifeless body of Late Bishop John Ekwukponachukwuokwu Okoye, lying in state today 17th July, 2020
Papa passed on on Thursday 16th of July 2020 because he was unable to cope with excruciating pains meted on him during a sponsored attack in his compound in Aborji village Oba, Idemili North LGA, Anambra, Biafraland on 12th July 2020 by some near-sight Oba youths.
Late Bishop John Ekwukponachukwuokwu Okoye didn’t die in the hands of the Nigerian military, Police, DSS, Fulani Herdsmen, Boko Haram, ISWAP, ISIS.
Late Bishop John Ekwukponachukwuokwu Okoye wasn’t dead because he took to the streets to protest on the refusal of the Nigerian Government to grant his fellow overly oppressed Biafrans a date for a plebiscite to enable them determine their fates and got rained with bullets he died because he gave his compound for his fellow oppressed Biafrans to gather and have deliberations on how to achieve Biafra.
Late Bishop John Ekwukponachukwuokwu Okoye as elder could have said to himself “I am already old so if I campaign for Biafra restoration at this my old age, how will I enjoy the freedom when it finally comes? He wasn’t thinking about himself because he’s already old waiting for his short time left to join his ancestors.
Late Bishop John Ekwukponachukwuokwu Okoye was killed by some intelligible, inscrutable Oba youths whom he was selflessly trying to secure their futures from the hands of some ethnocentric, etho-religious extremists willing to wipe them off from the face of this earth.
Some visually impaired Oba youths because of a paltry sums offered to them by their enemies, invaded their father’s compound, destroyed his properties and other IPOB Biafrans and laid their hands on an elder, an atrocious act forbidden in Biafraland and today, our father is no more.
Like our deputy Mazi Uche Okafor-Mefor said earlier, Bishop Okoye, you are our father, elder, brother and uncle. Your soul shall continue to rest in the bossom of the Most High God but you shall never rest where your remote, direct , indirect and immediate murderers are. You shall continue to hunt, hound and torment them until they painfully disappear from the face of this planet earth.
On our part and because of what you have done, we must not give up until Biafra is restored on your behalf and in your honour and that of millions of others who have paid the ultimate price. Rest in peace Bishop John Ekwukponachukwuokwu Okoye and May the Most High God grant you eternal rest.
Rest on daddy!
