FORMER SPEAKER OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES NA’ABBA, DIES IN KANO

A former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’abba, is dead.

Na’abba, from Kano State, was Speaker between 2000 and 2003 during, which he played an active role in truncating the alleged third-term bid of former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He was said to have died from an undisclosed illness on Thursday evening.

Scores of people including academics, administrators, bankers, media practitioners, businessmen and politicians have died in Kano to a yet-to-be-identified disease in the last one week.

Though there are speculations that the deaths could have been caused by Coronavirus, the state government has dismissed that theory, insisting that they were mere natural occurrences not related to the pandemic.
