Houses destroyed, many rendered homeless without compensation in Ebonyi sate

Ebonyi state government has embarked on demolishing of houses. The land mapped out for the construction of cargo in ebonyi sate belongs to the Ezza community.

Hundreds of houses were demolished leaving the villagers homeless without compensation.

In as much as the government of Ebonyi state has good intentions to develop the state but they might have kicked off on the wrong direction according to a witness. People should be compensated to enable them acquire another home because the land in question is an ancestral land.

Ezza North LGA yesterday witnessed demolition of their ancestorial homes began. Approximately, over 10,458 houses has been marked for demolition and not less than 120,000 citizens may be homeless. This actions was solely connected with the construction of Ebonyi cargo airport by Ebonyi state government. The age mothers, fathers, school children and pregnant mothers were all scaffolded, shattered and rendered homeless since yesterday. About four communities which includes Oriuzor, umuezeoka, umuaghuru and umuezeokoha were all affected. No single internal displaced camp (ID) or plans by state government to shelter the affected citizens. No single compensation for the affected homes or houses. What a life without a home? Why Ezza nation?

The senator representating Ebonyi Central and member house of Representatives of the affected LGA are yet to intervene in this ugly circumstances that befallen their constituents.

Time shall come and everyone will be paid according to his/her works. I will be right back.
